Why to make your own handwritten notes ?

I personally believe that it’s very good if you are making your own notes for any exam for which you are going to appear.

Here are some advantages of making your own notes :
  1. You will be able to understand the concept easily
  2. Sometime while reading and memorizing the answer we miss the important aspect of that answer, if you will make your own notes then you are not going to miss anything
  3. Your own notes would help you to remember the concept for relatively long period
  4. You can refer 2–3 books while making your own notes which would help you out to prepare yourself well for the exam
  5. You don’t need to refer back to those 2–3 books multiple times while revising any concept as you will be having your own notes at one place
  6. While revising the syllabus you will find yourself in a very comfortable situation as you will be able to revise 3–4 times in a very shorter duration
Hope this Helps !!

Why to avoid referring to too many books ?

I would also suggest you not to read many books instead just choose one or two and stick to them because :
  1. Referring to too many books may sometime create confusion because of different approach followed to make student understand about a concept
  2. Referring to too many books can be time consuming & qualitative studies can be hampered
  3. You will find yourself in troublesome situation while revising the syllabus as you have to pick many books
  4. If you choose one/two books then your hold on the topics will be very good
  5. You will gain maximum confidence once you will be done with your revision on time
  6. You will have ample time to practice 10 years (which I believe is also most important for NET exam)

How many attempts are allowed for the CSIR-NET JRF exam?

There is no limit on number of attempts a student can take while appearing for JRF however CBSE/UGC has placed the limit on AGE for JRF only.
Please read the below conditions :

Are the topics mentioned in the syllabus of NTA/UGC NET enough or I need to revise all the topics again and over again?

Below is Unit-I of paper-I
Now let’s select any sub-unit/topic given under the Unit i.e. Methods of teaching. If you will take two/three books and compare what they have covered under this particular sub-unit then you will find that one book might be covering 13/14 bullet points while other will 15/16 points.
What I am trying to conclude is that UGC will never ask question outside of what they have covered under each sub-unit/topic but no one can comment what can be covered under each sub-unit/topic.
This is the reason why this exam is so difficult to conquer.

How to Practice NTA/UGC NET 10 years ?

I have read UGC NET Trueman and found the contents and MCQs that are given at the end of each unit are nice and answers given for those are 95% correct.
But one can’t say that trueman covers 100% of each topic because UGC expect us expert knowledge in each topic which per me is almost impossible. So I would prefer go for Trueman and also practice 10 years for Paper 2 and 3.
I would suggest not only practice 10 years but also write down important/new points in your notebook that you come across while practising 10 years. See below example for reference :
Example 1:
Now Suppose you know the correct match making of first three (a. - iii,b. - iv and c - i) but don’t know about forth one (d.) but since you will notice that your answer only matches with option (C) therefore you will circle the option (C) in OMR sheet. Now the learning from this question is that you have to make a note of “Negative Cross Elasticity relates to Complementary Goods”
Example 2:
Now in above question correct answer is (B). In coming year exam this question can be modified and asked in the below manner :
Question :Which Definition Describes appropriately “Descriptive Analysis”
Option A.
Option B.
Option C. The transformation of raw data into a form that will make them easy to understand and interpret, rearranging and manipulating data to generate information
Option D.
Therefore you have to make a note of the Descriptive Analysis definition in your notebook.
Example 3
Correct answer is (D).
This question can be asked in the coming year exams in the below manner :
Question : As per which Master circular Tier I capital includes PNCPS and IPDI
Option A. Prudential Norms on Capital Adequacy – Basel IV Framework
Option B.Prudential Norms on Capital Adequacy – Basel II Framework
Option C. Prudential Norms on Capital Adequacy – Basel I Framework
Option D. Prudential Norms on Capital Adequacy – Basel III Framework
Therefore you have to make a note about the “Prudential Norms on Capital Adequacy – Basel I Framework” circular in your notebook.
I used to do this exercise for my paper-I, II and III and found that around 20–30% questions are asked from the information given in previous years questions itself.
See below the excerpts of my notebook for the important points that I prepared for my exams:
